How a TFSA Works
Contributions are after-tax, but interest, dividends and withdrawals are tax-free forever.
Inside the registered wrapper, every cent of growth is yours: no tax on interest from a TFSA savings account, no tax on GIC gains. When you withdraw, the withdrawn room is added back next year.
