How sascu Bill Pay Works
this credit union bill pay lets you pay any Canadian business or person from your chequing account for free.
Bill pay is the single most used feature of our team online banking. After you add a payee, a payment arrives electronically - usually within 1 to 3 business days - without you writing a single cheque or typing a full account number.
Payments to government agencies, utilities, telecoms, and card companies are all supported. The official methodology is detailed in the sascu overview.
Setting Up Payees and Recurring Payments
Adding a payee takes under 2 minutes; recurring payments run on autopilot once set.
Open the platform Online Banking, select Bill Pay, and choose Add Payee. Either search the national directory of 4,000+ payees or enter the business details manually. Recurring payments let you set a date and amount once; the system then handles it every month.
Of the 1,200 members surveyed in 2025, 61% said recurring bill pay eliminated missed payment fees entirely. Sample size was limited to members using the digital platform.
Tracking e-Bills and Payments Coming Due
e-Bills load automatically and stay visible in a single dashboard until they are paid.
Registering one e-Bill takes about a minute and automatically loads future statements into your dashboard. The 'Payments due' view shows everything arriving within 14 days, so nothing slips.
You can approve payments in the sascu mobile app with touch ID. The app stores a 90-day history of every transaction for easy reference.
Bill Pay Fees and Limits
Bill pay is free, and the default limit of $10,000 per day can be raised on request.
There is no per-payment fee and no monthly cap on the number of e-bills. The default daily limit is $10,000; higher limits are available for members with a verified profile.

Key facts at a glance
Four numbers decide most of this decision, and one caveat should always be kept in view.
- Payees supported: 4,000+.
- Delivery speed: 1-3 days.
- Monthly fee: $0.
Bill pay set-up here does NOT cover utility deposits, which still require a bank-issued void cheque for pre-authorized withdrawal. Initially our bill pay only supported bank transfers; in 2025 we added the 4,000+ national payee directory after a member poll.
