How to Keep Fees at Zero

Everything costs $0 if you use one of the 3 free methods for files and statements.

Set electronic statements in online banking, use the app for transfers, and use the 24,000+ network ATMs to keep every charge at zero. The membership $10 share is the only one-time value element.

Compare with the chequing detail on chequing account fees and business amounts on pricing.

Key facts at a glance

Four numbers decide most of this decision, and one caveat should always be kept in view.

The published schedule does NOT apply to business accounts, which are priced on the business tier. We calculated paper statements and kept the price flat; e-statements took over and the count of complaints fell with it.

Where the fee schedule changes

The fee table shifts three times per year in marked periods and is published 30 days before it applies to account holders.

Business account holders see the change in a dedicated statement. This notice period does NOT apply to wire and remittance fee changes, which take effect after 10 days under federal rate adjustments. Rebates appear on the next business day. Members who keep an average daily balance above $3,500 automatically drop the monthly fee.

The official methodology is detailed in the sascu overview.

The fee audit shows total fee revenue is 0.4% of member deposits, versus a 2-3% norm at an average bank.

Consumer protection and credit-union rules are published by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.

If two pages decide this decision, the second one is the fee schedule: three lines determine 90% of the annual difference, and the routing number and support number belong in the same notebook on the same day.

Exchange-rate windows and rate boards shift weekly; the numbers on this page are re-checked at the start of every month, which is what makes the checklist safe to print for the next quarter.

The savings rate pays meaningfully more on our operating reserve than the bank ever did.
